Following the success of previous camping nights, on Friday 3rd of May, Year 5s camped overnight on the school grounds. Students learnt how to pitch and set-up their own tents, developing their team building skills and communicating effectively to put up their tents safely and securely. Once all the tents were set up, the grass pitch looked truly inviting and exciting!
The students then took part in a range of activities such as orienteering, story telling, and of course, roasting marshmallows. Students had the opportunity to socialise and star gaze together as a class; it was great fun for all involved.
Students stayed overnight in their tents with a number of staff on duty throughout the evening and night. A bleary-eyed cohort of students were collected early the next morning.
Mr Roberts was so proud of his students who were responsible and respectful during the whole event.
The ISS camping nights are a great example of the breadth of education and skills the students acquire through curricular activities at the school. These relate directly to the school’s curriculum with the objective of enhancing their social awareness and building their confidence.
